For healthy, long-lasting daffodils and bigger blooms each spring, follow these 3 essential planting and care tips:

1. Plant daffodils in full sun
   Choose a location that receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily, even after trees leaf out in spring. Daffodils need plenty of sunlight after blooming to store energy for next year’s flowers.

2. Use well-draining soil
   Daffodil bulbs thrive in soil with good drainage. Avoid planting in low spots or areas where water collects after heavy rain, as excess moisture can cause bulbs to rot.

3. Let foliage die back naturally
   After flowering, allow daffodil leaves to remain for at least 8 weeks or until they turn yellow before trimming. Never braid, tie, or cut back green foliage too early — healthy leaves help produce stronger blooms for the following season.
